The following is a transcript of the talk:

(May Allah forgive the transcribers if there may be any mistakes in the transcription. Ameen).

My dear brothers. Last time, last time when I had come, I remembered that I had told you something about this zikr and Latifas and the Sulook. But it is necessary that not just the last time, but everytime that I come and everytime that we meet, we should hear about this and remember this, that what we have to do and what we have to remember and what things are necessary for this meeting. Last time I had told you that Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala, when created Bashar he put in him 10 things, they are called Latifas, 5 are from  Alam Amr and 5 are from Alam Khalq.

What is Alam Amar and what is Alam Khalq and what are those Latifas this we would explain tonight.

Alam al Khalq, Alam is World, World which has been created, Khalq they say because of this. So Alam al Khalq is that World, which is from Arsh, down to Teht us saraa. From Arsh, Kursi and all the skies, up to Teht us saraa. This is Alam al Khalq, for which Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala has said in Holy Quran that I created this World in 6 days, in 6 days. The skies and all these things were created in 6 days.

And the other is the Alam Amr which is above Arsh upwards that Alam is called Alam Amar.

So Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala when created the Hazrat e Insaan, Bashar, he put in that 5 Latifas from Alam e Khalq and 5 Latifas from Alam Amar.

From Alam Khalq, what were the Latifas that were put in the body of that man? You may have heard from all the Doctors that Hawaa, Air, water, fire, and what is? Earth, Turaab, these four things which are called Anasir, they are all from Alam e Khalq and what is the 5th Latifa? 5th Latifa is Nafs, Nafs. So, this body of a man is made up of all these four Latifas along with Latifa of Nafs. Followed? And 5 Haan, one thing more, that those four Latifas are in this body from head to foot, combined,  nothing is different from the other but Latifa Nafs is little different and it’s particular place where it resides is this. Followed? This place is for Latifa Nafs.

And from Alam e Amr Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala put in Insaan Heart, Latifa Heart, then Latifa Rooh, on right side left side, then Latifa Sirr near Heart, and then Latifa Khaffi near Rooh and in the middle is the Latifa Akhfa. Understand? So Imam Rabbani Rehmat Ullah Alaih has explained this, that Insaan is Murakab, is made up of these 10 Latifas.

What was the purpose of these 10 Latifas? Purpose from the creation of man was ‘Hasool & Wasool illallah’, to reach Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. To reach Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala was the purpose from the creation of Insaan. So for this purpose, all these ten Latifas were put in Insaan so that by these different ways he may reach Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala.

In different Tariqas, different Latifa are, are begun first and then second and then third but in Naqshbandi Tariqa they begin from Alam Amar not from Alam Khalq. That means they begin with QALB, Heart. Why do they begin from Heart because you know that this piece of meat which is called Heart is very important and important to the extent that The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has said that “Alaa inna fil jasadi Mudghatan”, it is in Bukhari Shareef, in 4th juz of Bukhari Shareef, this Hadith. “Alaa inna fil jasadi Mudghatan”, you should know that in your body there is one piece of meat, “iza salhat, salhat jasadu kuluhu”, if it is refined, then the whole body is refined, “wa iza fasadat, fasadat jasadu kuluhu”, and if it is not purified then the whole body is not purified. If the Heart is purified the whole body is purified, and if the Heart is not purified the whole body is not purified. The words are, “wa iza fasadat, fasadat jasadu kuluhu”, if it is impurified then the whole body would be impurified. “Alaa wa heeal Qalb”, and that it is the piece of Heart, which is called HEART. Followed? So, Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has told us and pointed out to us that this is something very important.

(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 4.52)

And In other Hadith, in other sayings of The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam, at one place, Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam says,

(Source: Sahiḥ Muslim 2564)

Allah SWT does not look at your outward features and your wealth but he looks at your heart.”

“InnAllaha la Yanziru illa Suawarukum wa Amwaalukum” Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala does not look at your outward features whether you are beautiful, whether your skin is white or Black, “InnAllaha la Yanziru illa Suawarukum”, Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala does not look at your features, outward features, “wa Amwaalukum”, apart from your features Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala does not look to your wealth also, whether you are wealthy or you are poor, does not look at your features, you are beautiful or Black, does not look to your wealth, whether you are wealthy or you poor, “Wal Yanzur Alaa Quloobukum wa Amaalukum”  But He looks to their hearts, He looks to your hearts, and then your deeds. So, from this one can understand that heart or hearts are very important things. Therefore, in other Tariqas also this lesson is to be completed but in Naqshbandi Tariqa, in our Tariqa we begin from this, we begin from this.

When we start making Zikr what do we mean by this. First thing is that we obey the order of Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala where he says

[Quran 2:152]:

You make my Zikr, you will remember me and I will remember you.”

And at the second place Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says that

(33:41):

whenever you make my Zikr remember me as much as possible.”

And at the third place Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says in Holy Quran (73:8)

that the way of making Zikr:

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا

You make my Zikr in a way that you forget everything else

When you are making my Zikr be Drowned in that, forget yourself forget Zikr and be drown in a Mazkoor. It means one thing is man who is making Zikr, second is Zikr itself and third thing of whom he makes the Zikr, he makes zikr of Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala so he should be drowned in the third, Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. We should think about him and forget our body and also making Zikr, to this extent we should make Zikr and the object from this is that our heart should become alive so the more and more Zikr the will be alive so that it is said that as we already know that for 24 hour we should make Zikr, 24 hours, day and night while sleeping or we are awaking we should be thinking about this. Zikr does not mean only beating of our heart our thought should be there. That our heart say Allah Allah Allah and Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala is present, He hears and sees. So, this Zikr, this kind of Zikr would make the heart alive, alive. And then the next stage would be that this heart, after such a Zikr, would become lightened, lightened first some darkness of it will be removed then more and more and more till our heart will begin to shine and not shine but would be just like this electricity that you see, these bulbs. It will be as purified as this. Not as purified as this, much more and much more than this. Our heart, Hazrat Sheikh Radhi Allahu Ta’aala Anhu (Peer Sain) was saying that it should be as bright as Moon, as the Moon. and not only moon as we see, as we see something black in Moon, just like a tree, such as we see something in the Moon, black, so Hazrat Sheikh Radhi Allahu Ta’aala Anhu was saying that if you find in your heart blackness, even as little as that, it will not get purified. Have you followed?

Now there is some explanation about this more, so that you should know that, and we all are interested to know because this is our lesson and we have to complete and we should know everything about this.

The next point is that as I told you that these are the ways for reaching Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. So by this way, by the way of Heart who is, who reach to Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. First man to reach by this way of heart was Syedna Adam Alayhis Salam, Syedna Adam Alayhis Salam, Abul Bashar. Just as we follow. so he went by this way to, has reached Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. Therefore, after Syedna Adam Alayhis Salam, all the Prophets that were, went by this way, of heart, and all the Saints who went by this way and reached Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala are called Aadmi ul Musharab, that they have gone by the same way as Syedna Adam Alayhis Salam has gone, has reached.

One thing more that when this Heart is lightened it has got some color, and it’s color is, it’s light’s color is just like the light of Moon Golden Color. First some different color appears while making Zikr but in the end, but in the end this becomes one color and it’s as clear as the Moon. The more the heart is refined the more we get the things which The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has said, for example, I was once asked whether this Tariqa, this Tariqa that we get from Peers, from spiritual guiders was Faraz or Wajib, was most essential? One Justice in Pakistan before he entered this Tariqa, he asked me this question, he said, would you kindly tell me that a muslim who is reading namaz, who is keeping fast, who is making jehad, who is making Hajj, giving Zakat, all necessary things of Islam he is performing. is it then necessary that he should enter the Tariqa of any of the Mashaikh or he would be taken into Jahanam? To the fire? I told him dear sir, this is very necessary thing if you understand. I told him, dear sir, this Tariqa and making Zikr is not Faraz or Wajib but to perform the Faraz and Wajib this is necessary. Faraz and Wajib is only the orders of Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala which has come through Quran and Hadith. We have to follow orders of The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam, this is only Faraz, and not is Zikr, and why, what The Prophet has said is Faraz? Because Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says in His Holy Quran; (59:7)

Wa ma ataa kumur Rasoolo Fakhuzoo, “Whatever The Prophet gives you, make sure that saying, you stick to it, abide by that and whatever he tells you not to do you keep yourself away from that”, because the strict order for every Muslim, that what The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has said, he has to obey.

If therefore, it is Faraz to obey the tradition of The Prophet. But, if performing those actions, the very object orders, there are some hindrances, there are some obstacles which are to be removed and for removal of those this Zikr is necessary. For example, I have told you so many times that The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam said that offer prayer. After Tauheed and Risaalat offering of prayers is very necessary. Faraz, yes sir? It is Faraz and we offer also, and we all Muslims offer also, but we see benefits, the profits which should be obtained from this Prayers, as The Prophet has said, we do not. For example Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has said that as Salaat Meraj ul Momineen, this prayer is like a Meraj for a Momin. Meraj is when (Nabi Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam) went on Meraj Shareef, he did not go to see the Jannat and Jahannam and the skies, but Nabi Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam was taken for the Meraj Shareef to see Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala. So because Nabi Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam loved his Ummat to a very great extent so he brought from Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala a present for his Ummat and that present was, one of them was, Namaz, Prayers and after giving that gift, he said that this is like a Meraj for him, and I have gone to see Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala, a Momin can see Tajalli of Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala in his prayers.

But we see the saying of The Prophet is this, but with all these things then when we offer prayer we go and purchase things from the shops and we do the things which we forget in our offices those also are remembered in the Namaz, in the Salat. So, what The Prophet has said can never be wrong (نعوذ باللہ ) so this means that that kind of prayers which shall have this result, which The Prophet has said, is a little different from one which we offer. And which is that kind of prayers? That kind of prayers is for which Nabi Kareem says

This is that “Not perfect is Prayers which is being offered without Khushu and Khuzu that means without concentration of the Heart”.

Concentration of the heart could not be had until & unless this heart is purified because it is necessity, therefore Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has pointed to this, that, this heart is something very great if you purify it then it is refined then the whole body will be purified and all the things that concerned to this heart will start obeying .

Another example, Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says in His Holy Quran (Sura Ankaboot 29:45):

إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ

Without doubt this Prayers would keep you away from the bad deeds”;

But we see that we offer Prayer, but we speak lie, we offer prayer and we steal things, we offer Prayer and take wine and similarly other things, so many other things, we offer prayer and also along with that we do all these deeds. Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says that without doubt it would protect you from them, and without doubt we are doing all those things. Followed? So, this may also mean that that kind of prayer which would keep us away from these things is a little different, and that as I have told you already, already, that, that depends upon the purification of the heart and where heart is purified, that, it is necessary for the completion of the Salat, meaning prayer.

Just as Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam has told us the importance of the heart, Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala also in His Holy Quran (26:88) says, what does He say? He says:

The day of resurrection would be such that neither your wealth nor your awlaad, what does this mean? your children, would benefit.

The day would be such that, you would not be benefited by your wealth and by your children.

But only one who brings the pure heart, peaceful heart, refined heart he will be benefited and he will get from Me salvation.

That means Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala also has persisted and has said clearly that it is only upon the purification of heart that this thing can be done. But how it can be purified? Know Prophet has said that this should be purified. He called his Sahaba Karaam and told them that this heart is to be rusted, it gets rust. They said “how it can be purified Sir?” He said “this can be purified by remembering death, by reciting Holy Quran and by making Zikr.” Then make Zikr.

And Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala, when He pointed out this clearly, also has given us the prescription for this, that how can it be purified?

Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala says (Holy Quran 13:28):

“It is only with Zikr”, “Alaa”, with this. This word in Arabic means, that without that there is no other duty.

It is, it is with My Zikr, that this heart can be purified”, it, which means, it may be refined.

Therefore, it is proved that it is only Zikr, which is necessary for the purification of the heart. And therefore, Allah Subhana hu Ta’aala has said that you make my Zikr and make Zikr more & more so that you will get salvation.

By the way when we have come to this I will also tell you a little thing more than this. So, before we go further, the people say, that when this Zikr is necessary for the purification of the heart, all the Muslims do this Zikr, all the Muslims read Quran, read Durood Sharif, make Zikr. Followed?

Then where is the necessity that one should gain Zikr from some Peer, from some Murshid, from some spiritual guide. What is the necessity for that?

So dear brothers, we see that when we make Zikr and all of us we make Zikr, among million and billions of the population of Muslims that we see, we do not see that anybody’s heart is alive or anybody’s heart is lightened until and unless the Zikr has been taken by some Peer, may it be he is of Naqshbandi Tariqa, Qadiri, Chishti, Suhrawardi, Shazlia, Qalandaria. Not a single man you will find who can say and get that his heart is alive, and his heart is lightened if he has not taken Zikr from his Murshid. Then what is the reason for this that when the Zikr is being taken from the Mashaikh this heart becomes alive and it becomes lightened? What is the reason for this? The reason is that this kind, which the Mashaikh give for making Zikr has been given to us from The Prophet Salalahu Alayhi wa Salam.
